We Carry Only THE BEST STUFF

Andre Charles ROBIN Sr.
June 9, 1949 - Aug. 9, 2009

Chef Andre was a cooking legend and he had just started as Uptown Angler’s Food Editor. Below is small bio of a great chef and a great man. He will be missed.

Andre's life journey began in New Orleans on June 9, 1949. He was one of five proud children of Genevieve and John Robin. Although a short journey, it was filled with passion, joy, and most of all, love. He truly believed in the motto, ''Live. Love. Laugh.'' Upon completing his education, he went on to marry his high school sweetheart and soul mate, Mona. Together they were blessed with the pride of their lives, Andre Jr. and Jennifer.

His entrepreneurial spirit was present throughout his 42-year career in the food processing industry. His passion for food and the City of New Orleans was so deep he eventually became a chef and used his craft to bring people together and share in the joy of life. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father. He was loved by all. He knew how to love people, make them smile, and enjoy life to the fullest. He was always the life of the party, no matter where he went.

Every person's life he touched will be forever changed. His humor was undeniable and infectious to all. We are all better people for knowing him. He will forever be a legend on this earth, and is now cooking for God in the heavens. We are all mourning over the loss of a great man, but will continue to celebrate his legacy.

Andre is survived by his loving wife Mona, his favorite daughter Jennifer, and his favorite son Andre, Jr. He is also survived by his mother Genevieve, his brothers John (Dorothy) and James (Joan), his sisters Mary (Bob) and Corinne, his nephews Brendan, Johnny, and David, and his niece Alyson. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Noon at ST. MEL'S CHURCH, located at 4745 Pennsylvania Avenue, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.

Primary Food Experience

Since a small baby I have been blessed with the ability to eat. First my mother was a great cook, then I married into a family that thought cooking was like breathing; it was just something that you did naturally.

Most of my friends cook.

I have been able to travel extensively around the US, indulging in my hobby of eating gourmet foods in many upscale restaurants. I have lived in Europe where I traveled to eat in many of the finer restaurants in Western Europe.

I have cooked for many years, and have developed a niche for re creating dishes that taste great but are a little healthier than what people are used to in Louisiana.

Did I mention that I am from New Orleans, born and raised uptown (corner of Milan and South Saratoga).

I claim New Orleans to be one of the finest areas of food cuisine and have a lot of people who are willing to back me up on this.

My qualifications for this position are simply the passion for good food and the sharing of the knowledge that comes with it.

I look forward to serving this section as an interim position who hopes to engage the younger people of Louisiana to cook,

Your cardboard chef,
Andre
